American cultural values have changed a lot since the 90s and early 2000s, when media sexism was commonplace, and often criticized a woman's skimpy clothing and called her a slut or skank, all to protect the supposed purity of American children. Britney Spears bore the brunt of a lot of this, and as a young white woman was held to a standard even above that of other female singers. But Britney did play a huge part in changing the uptight culture of America by making sexual expression more mainstream for many years, and because she slammed open the door, female popstars after her do not have to endure nearly as much slut shaming and criticism for flaunting their bodies. Britney Spears doesn't get much credit for this but it is long overdue! I also wish Britney the best with her fight regarding the conservatorship.
