The key to properly balancing off-camera flash to your ambient light is not about over-powering ambient light but rather to work with it. Sometimes, your flash can just be used as a fill light, or a highlight in order to create more dimension to your image. This video is a lighting tutorial with demo containing some tips and tricks on how I accompanied that.
