Silicon quality typically improves over time, just like any other manufacturing quality or yield would, and that normally manifests itself in the form of higher overclocking capabilities on later-launched CPUs. This also means that you can typically run the same clocks at lower voltages on newer silicon, but not always. Just being newer, especially if it's only been a year, doesn't guarantee that the silicon is better. It's still a silicon lottery situation, and that means that it's still possible to get bad silicon just like it was at launch. Similarly, it was possible at launch to get good silicon, so what really changes is the probability of a good chip. Hopefully, that's improved, but a sample size of one each doesn't allow any firm conclusions. We're still looking into the highest frequencies at the lowest voltages possible on each chip, the stock performance (just in case), and the gaming overclock results of the new AMD R5 3600 vs. Old AMD R5 3600. Charts also include other CPUs, like the AMD R9 3900X, AMD R7 3700X, Intel i5-10600K, Intel i9-10900K, et al., but we're only focusing on talking about the new vs. old 3600 results today.
