Maruya is a banana fritter from the philippines, usually made from saba bananas or plantain. Batter is made with mashed bananas and other ingredients, followed by frying them until golden brown in desired shapes

Ingredients for maruya / banana fritters
3 pieces of ripe banana ( saba or plantain)
1/4 cup sugar ( brown )
1/2 cup fresh milk
1/2 cup oil
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 /4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 /8 teaspoon salt
1 egg
How to make maruya
Mash the bananas, set aside
Mix egg, milk and vanilla extract.
whisk to incorporate all the ingredients, set aside
In a bowl, combine flour baking powder, sugar and salt
Add the liquid mixture, mix well then add the mashed bananas.
Heat up the oil
Scoop the mixture and then pour in the pan.
Fry both sides until the color turns golden brown.
Sprinkle the remaining sugar.
Serve and enjoy!
