There is an incredible connection between breath and the pelvic floor.
The Vagus nerve runs all the way from the throat to the diaphragm down to the cervix. Because of this direct link, it’s incredibly important that we learn to use breath to relax and contract our pelvic floor.
To belly breathe:
Inhale---belly comes out as it expands with air and pelvic floor drops.
Exhale---belly comes back in as it "deflates," and pelvic floor lifts.
Activate/contract (exhale) at the right time: when you need a stable pelvis, when you orgasm, or when lifting something heavy.
Relax (inhale) at the right time: when sitting on the toilet, with penetration during intercourse, baseline resting.
