In this tutorial, we’re going to create an architecture section drawing from Revit using post-production in Photoshop. This will involve adding the section line weight to Photoshop and rendering out the model in Enscape.
Being able to quickly render architecture sections is something a lot of architecture students wish they could do. It generally takes a long time to produce high quality architecture section drawings, but it doesn’t need to. This section tutorial will teach you to create quick, nice looking architecture sections in as little as 15 minutes.
Step 1 to creating an architecture section is to export the lines from Revit (or similar modelling program) to the correct scale. This is done by adding your architectural section to a sheet and exporting it to the desired page size.
Step 2 to creating an architecture section is exporting the rendered section drawing using Enscape. You can line this up with your linework in photoshop to ensure the render is at the right scale.
Step 3 to create an architecture section would be to find precedents of other sections to use as inspiration. Have a look on Pinterest and find sections you like the look of. Copy that style and make it your own! That’s how you can create great looking section drawings. Try not spend too long looking at others sections as you might get carried away. Find a few you like the look of and reference them for your own architecture section.
The next step to creating an architecture section involves choosing a simple colour palette. 2-3 colours that you can use across your entire project. This will help make your section look neat and legible to read.
After, you can add a ground plane and sky to your photoshop section. Your architecture section will already start to look better. You can also add trees, people and other items as finishing touches.
Make sure you change the hierarchy of the drawing by controlling the line weights and opacity. This will help your section be easy to read.
