What was the Hammer of Dawn Strikes? Pt 1/2 | Gears of War Lore
One of the most controversial moments in the Gears of War lore history, the Hammer of Dawn strikes both saved and destroyed humanity from the Locust horde! 1 year after E-Day, the COG's defeat seemed imminent, drastic measures were needed. Chairman Prescott decided to take action and risk the fate of humanity on a desperate move: burning the world around them. The Jacinto Plateau was one of the few places the Locust could not dig under which made it a nice capital city for the COG, however the Locust were quickly conquering the rest of the world and gathering humanity's resources to increase their strength. Prescott decided he would use the Hammer of Dawn on 90% of Sera, killing all Locust on the surface and all humans. He gave COG personnel 3 days notice to retreat to the Jacinto Plateau or be caught in the Hammer Strikes.
