What is the difference between the main category and a subcategory?
Subcategories are completely optional and are often used when you have a lot of different product types in the main category. For example, if you are selling men's clothes then the main category should be "Mens" and the subcategories should be "Mens Shoes", "Mens Jeans", Mens" Jumpers" and "Mens Accessories".
It would make more sense to add your products to the subcategories if you are using them in your WooCommerce store.
