The 9th generation Civic Si comes in a Coupe and a Sedan. The engine has been upgraded from the 8th generation to the K24Z7, which is rated at 11.0:1 Compression, 2.4L 201 hp and 170 lb·ft (230 N·m) of torque. (this is a higher compression version of the one found in the Honda CR-V). The maximum torque is reached at 4400 rpm while the engine in the 8th generation reached it at 6000 rpm. The redline has been reduced to 7000 rpm, with a fuel cut at 7200 rpm. Retained is the 6 speed manual transmission, which is the only available transmission option. The wing spoiler found on the previous generation is replaced by a different design deck-lid spoiler. The interior of the car received slight updates as an addition of rev limit indicator and a power meter, displayed in the new i-MID (intelligent Multi-Information Display). Sway bars has been changed to F18mm/R15mm from the F28mm/17mm in 8th generation. The chassis is more rigid and the curb weight is slightly lower than the previous model. It is the same size as the outgoing model. As the prior generation, it has a helical LSD (Limited Slip Differential).
Announced at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas a HFP (Honda Factory Performance) Version of the civic was made available in a limited production of dealer installed performance parts which included:
