Greebo Games: The Krogal team takes to the pitch!
I like lizards. You've probably heard me say this many times.
So why wouldn't I want football lizards then, right? Greebo Games has steadily been plugging away at making unique and thematic fantasy football teams for years now. After a string of successful kickstarters for a variety of unique teams, it was time to do get the lizards on the field.
One thing to keep in mind is at the time of the campaign, the official GW lizard team had not been released yet (or possibly even announced if I remember correctly), so a lot of people jumped at the chance to own a stylish reptile team- and stylish they are!
Seriously, these are gorgeous sculpts. My crappy camerwork doesn't do them justice. They're all individual unique sculpts too. Everybody looks imposing and intense. There's all sorts of little details hanging about on their uniforms, if you want to call them that. They're clothes aren't as blatantly football- ish as other teams, and you could quite easily just use them as savage lizardfolk in any other tabletop game.
A few issues- it took me a fair amount of time to finish the team. LOTS of parts, and as you saw upon arrival, nothing was organized. We got there... eventually. A lot of the parts needed trimming to fit more snuggly as well.
The larger Krogals are very top heavy. They may need some counterweights under their bases. We'll see how they fare after gluing them down.
One thing I wish had happened- Greebo should make some weapon hands to turn them in to full fledged warriors. All it would take is modifying the renders and produce some variant arms. It seems like leaving money on the table. I know football teams are their bread and butter, but if they made fighting lizards even I would probably double dip.
I also wish their zoat model was even bigger! It's a nice model, and fits the table gaming size, but dang do I want it doubled in size! I even asked about custom orders and they said no. :(
If you aren't a fan of metal models, Greebo is currently running a kickstarter for a new Orc team along with an assortment of other interestign players, but this time around they're offering a resin optiom. Those orcs look almost as nice as these lizards, and I'm not even an orc fan! Take a look!
