LAST ONES IN FL! 1986 Otis Elevonic 401 Elevators at Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center in Miami, FL

Let the Miami videos begin! And to start off the Miami videos, let's start off with something that to my knowledge is officially extinct everywhere in The State of Florida but here! For those of you who are new here, Elevonic 401 is one of my favorite elevator models ever. I love them a lot as I rode them plenty of times as a kid, I love the chimes, the voices and the way the motors and drives on them sound, and despite the fact this model was introduced nearly 45 years ago, many of them are still operating reliably to this day, and they were among the first fully computerized microprocessor controller based elevator systems making them very much ahead of their time, and many look and feel quite modern to this day. Unfortunately though, these are slowly getting rarer and rarer each year due to modernizations, and for the case of Florida, despite once having many installs, they're now all but gone. My area (Central FL) used to have over 15 buildings with 401s, but as of last year, the final ones located at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando bit the dust. In addition to those, the Bank of America Tower in Jacksonville got modded last year, and I missed the last original cars at One Clearlake Center in West Palm Beach by mere days/weeks, now leaving these as the last known ones of their kind in the State. These definitely aren't the fastest or tallest or nicest 401s I've been on, but they are still very nice and beautiful and fun elevators nonetheless with beautiful Series 1 COPs that are labeled as Elevonic 401 and drives and motors that are MUSIC to my ears! Unfortunately, rumor has it these elevators will likely be getting modernized within the next couple of years which will render 401s extinct in the Sunshine State, but at least I got to see these when I did. I hope you guys enjoy my video of what will likely be my only ride on what are Florida's last known surviving set of Otis Elevonic 401s!
