Google Workspace | How to use the investigation tool | GWS Admin
While managing your #Google Workspace did you ever need to delete that awkward email message from all your users’ mailboxes or that specific user mailbox?
Did you ever need to unshare a file that wasn’t supposed to be shared with outsiders or the wrong people?
I’m sure you have came across these situations frequently in Google Workspace, and usually the solution for these cases is to use GAM or to use the #Gmail API or #Drive API…
Well these are very effective tools and solutions, except for the single fact that they are not time friendly nor user friendly…
What if you could do it in a more awesome way that is both easy and enjoyable? :D
This is where the Security Investigation Tool comes in!
As a super administrator, you can use the security investigation tool to identify, triage, and take action on security and privacy issues in your domain.
Unfortunately, it is an enterprise tool only, so if you don’t have Google Workspace Enterprise editions, you won’t be able to use it :(
So assuming you have Google Workspace Enterprise edition, this is your best option to use in order to investigate and mitigate the security issues and problems.
In this video I go through a brief introduction on the security investigation tool and first of all I cover what is the tool, how to access it, and what are the required permissions to use it.
Then I show you a demo on how to use it to find and unshare a single Google Drive file, however the same concept applies to unshare multiple files as well. I also show you how you can manipulate the file permissions and change the ownership of the file if you need to.
The next demo I show you is for finding and deleting an email message, which is a very useful thing to have and know when someone sends an email that should not be sent…
