In this tutorial, we install LinuxFX, also known as WindowsFX, a lightweight Linux variant designed to largely replicate the appearance and functionality of Windows 10, progressing through configuration and customisation within its live installation environment. Following initial setup, we configure display options to match our monitor resolution, before undertaking a desktop tour and overview of preinstalled apps, noting the extensive library of additional software available via the integrated store. We further consider whether LinuxFX strays too close to the edge of acceptability, borrowing heavily from Microsoft Windows in both appearance and methods of operation, further examining weaknesses in presentation which currently prevent its elevation to something more than simple curiosity.
