"Hevdrok the Hero" is an original dwarven song in our Hammerdeep collection. We are continuing to develop our own Dwarven legend through multiple musical compositions. We hope you enjoy it:)
Description: “Hevdrok the Hero” is an epic ballad describing the climax of the Dwarves’ struggle with the formidable foe Zargi the Dragon-Mage. Zargi was a powerful sorcerer, from the seed of dragons, and adept in the magic of shape-shifting. He came from the South, beyond the reaches of Dragonshore to infiltrate the Dwarven society, to take power over one of the most advanced civilizations of Diurnus at that time. However, his cowardly, slithering ways of deceit would be no match for the courageous, honest, and powerful strength of the Dwarves and the champion Hevdrok. Hevdrok knew no fear, and was ready to conquer dragons for the sake of his people, sacrificing his very life. He was battle-hardened, precise and clever in the ways of combat: a dauntless Dwarf, whose memory was worthy to be etched into the halls of Hammerdeep.
We wrote the lyrics, composed, and arranged the piece. Our family sang it.

Hevdrok the Hero
Hevdrok fought the Dragon-mage
To free Hammerdeep from an evil age
Rise o’er the mountain, clouds and darkened sky
Flow flaming fountain, rivers burning dry
Sky quakes as wings beat, thunder from on high,
Flee from the death heat lest you burn and die.
(Refrain)
Stand strong; fight your fear,
Every stone must be earned,
Die in strength; Die a hero,
Sacrifice will make you burn,
And the Dragon’s flames of rage
Shall nevermore return.
Bolts from our ballistae fill the sky as rain
High from our tower, arrows flew in vain,
Filled with pride to taunt us, Zargi did alight,
Hevdrok leapt astride him dauntless, forcing him to flight.
Stand strong; fight your fear,
Every stone must be earned,
Die in strength; Die a hero,
Sacrifice will make you burn,
And the Dragon’s flames of rage
Shall nevermore return.
Hevdrok did cling by his hands on the wing,
Tore it asunder, downward to bring
A fiery shower Brought down the tower
Dragon and Dwarf fell in magic and power
Down plunged the dragon to the waterfall’s fountain,
Fury of crimson emblazing the mountain
Wounded the dragon-mage now took his stand,
Hevdrok pursued him to fight hand to hand.
Hevdrok in caution waded to the shore
Till steaming flames blazed nigh him with a roar
Dragon-mage now shifting to the form of man
Took up a sword and through the Dwarf it ran
Hevdrok from water scalding stony skin
Sprang forth in valor, fortitude within
And as Dwarf and Dragon took their final breath
Hevdrok’s mighty axe blade sealed his foe in death.
