The country’s richest saw their wealth rise to 30% growing to a cumulative $79 billion amidst the COVID-19 pandemic based on Forbes’ Philippines’ 50 Richest, the SY Siblings still dominate the to spot for this year.
According to Forbes, over half of the listees saw their wealth increase this year, with four of them adding over $1 billion each to their net worth. The Top 3 gainers are the Sy siblings who added $2.7 billion to to their wealth and remains at the top spot with $16.6 billion, it is followed by property tycoon Manuel Villar Jr. who saw his net worth increase by $1.7 billion to $6.7 billion, and Internationa Container Ports and casino tycoon Enrique Razon Jr. who saw his wealth grew by $1.5 billion to $5.8 billion.
This year’s newcomers on the list are Converge ICT Solutions co-founders Dennis Anthony and Maria Grace Uy ranking sixth with $2.8 billion; 8990 Holdings director Luis Yu Jr. at 32nd with $445 million and Mariano Martinez Jr. at 49th with $205 million; as well as DDMP REIT co-owners Benedicto and Teresita Yujuico at 48th with $210 million.
Forbes' raised its net worth minimum this year to $200 million, last year it was only at $100 million.
