Combining text strings from multiple rows/columns/cells into one have been very common problem amongst basic excel users. However, it's very easy to do it using CONCATENATE which is built in Excel Function. It allows to merge maximum 255 set of text arguments in one single string.
The syntax and the argument of this function is very easy to understand as this function takes "text" arguments where the first argument is mandatory and rest are optional.
But when using this function, users need to be very careful as this function will not add any punctuation or special character by its own. We will have to specify spaces, commas, semi-colon etc wherever they are required to be included in between the text.
But the actual problem comes when you want to combine any text with cell containing "Date" or "Time". Since, Excel stores Date and Time as serial number in Excel, It will read and print the actual serial number when text combined with date or time using this function.
To get the date, time or number in different format, Users will have to nest TEXT function inside CONCATENATE to convert Values into their specific number format.
TEXT function can be used to convert number in specific number format as text string. To know more about TEXT function, Click here to watch the TEXT Function Tutorial.
