Fluid Mechanics Lesson Series - Lesson 08E: Major Head Losses, Turbulent
In this 12-minute video, Professor Cimbala discusses the Moody Chart and presents a useful correlation for estimation of Darcy friction factor as a function of Reynolds number and nondimensional roughness - the Churchill equation. He shows how this equation can be used to estimate major head loss through a pipe when the flow is either turbulent or laminar. He illustrates how to apply the equation by working through an example problem.
This video incorporates material from Section 8-5 of the Fluid Mechanics textbook by Cengel and Cimbala.
