In Invincible after Mark realizes that someone is spying on his brother and him, he goes to Cecil suspecting him but when he realizes it wasn’t him he’s given a job to capture mysterious individual named Gary Hampton, who we see standing in a forest standing next to a large wolf beast like man who tells him that his first test comes today, as many innocent lives are in danger and they’re in need of a defender. We see as Gary begins to put on his gear and actually transforms completely into a pale white werewolf, telling his teacher that he chose to wear spandex since it makes him look less edgy to the people he’s supposed to be saving. Mark eventually ends up on the scene where a giant red ogre pounds through the forest and almost squishes Wolf Man, however after Mark is able to take it down and make it sit there for help to arrive, he turns to Wolf Man telling him that he’s also under arrest, and this is where we learn the tragic backstory of this potential hero. Here Gary tells Mark that despite the fact that he has episodes once a month on the full moon, it wasn’t him that ended his wife’s life and instead it was a wolf who he thought was his friend and mentor, who even framed him for the death of a hero by making GARY think it was him when he wasn’t in control of himself. Through hearing this guy out, Mark decides that he WILL bring him back to Cecil, but when Mark says he won’t allow Wolf Man to be arrested, a new argument begins.
