Have you wondered if Spotify shuffle actually shuffles? It seems like this music app knows exactly what you want to hear next, even though you're just checking out a random Daily Mix playlist. Turns out, there's a reason to why Spotify just "knows you".

After scouring through Spotify's employee interviews and design philosophy, psychology research articles, and even their coding document, I explain the science behind how Spotify learns about their users. Interestingly, beyond deep algorithms and clever research methods, Spotify plays a social game to keep us using the app. I explain Spotify's design psychology, what kind of data they collect, and how they collect them.

All in all, it's kinda creepy how Spotify just knows us. Should we be worried?
