Webb Locked Its Target On a Star 250 Light-Year Away
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) reached L2 on 24th January.
According to Amber Straughn, the deputy project scientist for Webb Science Communications, the first images are expected to come after five months the telescope parks itself in its new home. The JWST still has a lot of operations to be done to take pictures of distant galaxies. Webb has found a new target for it to study, a star named HD 88406 in the constellation of Ursa Major located 258.5 light-years Away. but for the telescope to take pictures and study this star, It needs to cool down to extremely cold temperatures.
