In this video I set up a new Kubernetes cluster in Rancher with 3 virtual machines.
VMs:
Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS
4gb RAM
2 vCPU
50gb HDD
Set up Rancher:
https://rancher.com/quick-start/
With Docker installed (see commands below) run the following command to install Rancher:
sudo docker run --privileged -d --restart=unless-stopped -p 80:80 -p 443:443 rancher/rancher
On VMs to be added to cluster, install Docker
Commands from this link are below:
https://docs.docker.com/engine/instal...
In Rancher:
Set a password if you have not already.
In Cluster Management click 'Create' to create the cluster.
If you are using VMs for the cluster use the 'Custom' option.
Give the cluster a name and run the provided commands to have each VM join the cluster.
Rancher will do the rest, your new cluster state will go from 'Provisioning' to 'Active'.
Note that my two Worker VMs took some time to register with Kubernetes and have the cluster fully functional.
This took about 5 minutes more.
