In this lesson we explore the "outside" function of major 7th chords. While you may already be familiar with using maj7 in the 1 and 4 (I and IV) positions, we can also use them on other degrees to really bring out their soulful colour. Plus, they can be used effectively to modulate (change key) and take your songs in new directions.
