Web and Mobile Applications UI can be especially difficult to design, both from a technical and a user perspective.
From a technical perspective, I don't know if my web application is going to be accessed from a mobile device, or a desktop browser. If a mobile app or device is the target, then which version of the OS will be used? Will it need to be cross platform? And what will the size of my screen be, both physically and by pixel size?
Additionally, you may not know who your end users are, or what type of training or expertise they have. With an enterprise application in an office location, you can expect some level of training to train users on how to perform the standard task. You cannot assume that will happen for a mobile or web application.
Therefore, an application should be designed so that it anticipates the user’s next move. Especially on a mobile device so the user doesn’t have to do as much on a small screen.
The interface should communicate the status of any activity initiated by the user. This is especially important since you may have some time between requests and the user cannot easily tell if they’ve lost connection with a server. You don't want a frustrated user who cannot understand this task.
Let's take a look at some additional things to consider when developing interfaces for web and mobile apps.
