Sensing Soil and Vegetation Water with Space-Borne Microwave Radiometers (Maria Piles)
AMERSIE 2020 is a fall school on "Advanced methods for remote sensing information extraction”, organised by Norway and Spain GRSS chapters from the 3rd to the 5th of November 2020.
The school brought together leading researchers to introduce the attendees to advanced signal processing methods for information retrieval in large scale datasets collected by multiple remote sensors.

Maria Piles (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.S. degree in telecommunication engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València, València, Spain, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in signal theory and communications, from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, 2010.,In 2010, she joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, as a Research Fellow. From 2011 to 2015, she was a Research Scientist with UPC and a Research Affiliate with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA. In 2016, she joined the Institute of Marine Sciences, CSIC, Cádiz, Spain, as a Research Scientist. She is currently a Ramón y Cajal researcher with the Image Processing Laboratory, Universitat de València. Her research interests include microwave remote sensing, estimation of soil moisture and vegetation bio-geophysical parameters, and development of multisensor techniques for enhanced retrievals with focus on agriculture, forestry, wildfire prediction, extreme detection, and climate studies.
