How to remove Categories in WordPress | WordPress Tutorial

Today, in this video we are learning "How to remove categories in WordPress". This video shows you a complete step by step tutorial to remove categories from your WordPress website.

Step (How to delete a Category):
1. Open your WordPress dashboard, hover on to "Posts" and click on "Categories"
2. At the right-hand side of the Categories page, you can find all the categories of your website. All you need to do is, hover over the category which you don't want and click on "Delete" and that's pretty much about it
Step (How to delete multiple categories):
1. Open your WordPress dashboard, hover on to "Posts" and click on "Categories"
2. At the right-hand side of the Categories page, you can find all the categories of your website. Click on the checkboxes in front of all the categories that you want to delete
3. After selecting the categories, go up to the "bulk actions" drop-down and click on "Delete" and then click on "Apply". This will delete only the selected categories
Step (How to delete Uncategorized categories):
1. Open your WordPress dashboard, hover on to "Posts" and click on "Categories"
2. To delete the "Uncategorized" category, we have to change the default category to any of the other created categories
3. To change the default category, you need to hover over to "settings", then click on "writing". Then in the Writing setting, you can see a section "Default Post Category", from the drop-down select any other category as a default post category for your website and then click on "Save changes" at the bottom of the page
4. Go back to the "Categories" section by hovering over to "Posts" then clicking on "Categories"
5. Now you can hover your cursor near "Uncategorized" and then click on "Delete"
