The initial hints about Mavuika being a playable character in version 5.1 surfaced thanks to Flying Flame. It was hinted that players would get the chance to control her without being able to use her skills. Many believed this would simply involve exploring the world as Mavuika, but there appears to be more to it than expected. This speculation gained momentum as other reliable sources within the community backed this leak. Plus, images of her character profile and menu screen further fueled the excitement and gave the rumors more weight.
Now, we’ve got fresh information from HomDGcat, so let’s break down what’s been revealed.
In the 5.1 beta, Mavuika doesn’t have any active abilities, players can only move her around. However, she passively summons Sacred Flames to engage enemies in her vicinity. The details of Sacred Flames are still a bit unclear, but it seems like this ability will only appear during this specific part of the story. This mechanic mirrors how other story quests have let players temporarily assume the role of the character, and it looks like the developers are following a similar approach here.
As for the mechanics: when Mavuika is in the field, Sacred Flames automatically trigger every 5 seconds, dealing area damage and launching enemies into the air. This attack has a base damage of 945. If there are no enemies within 15 meters, the Flames will instead appear 15 meters ahead of the character. The 8-meter AoE radius is somewhat similar to other large abilities found in the game.
Version 5.1 will drop on October 9th, just a few weeks away. That said, keep in mind that Mavuika will only be playable during the story quest in this update, and she won’t have a character banner just yet. Based on the current leaks, the banners in 5.1 will focus on Xilonen and Chiori in the first phase, followed by reruns of popular characters like Nahida and Hu Tao.
In the past, prominent characters like Mavuika don’t become fully playable until after their story arc concludes, so her banner is anticipated in version 5.3, with a possible rerun in 5.7.
Some players have speculated that version 5.7 might be the last major update for Natlan. If that’s true, Mavuika’s rerun would likely coincide with the summer event in 5.7, just ahead of the release of the next big region.
