In 2000, the second generation of the Volvo V70 station wagon, based on the S60 sedan, debuted. The model had, among other things, an "off-road" version of the Volvo V70 XC with increased ground clearance, different suspension settings and a body kit made of unpainted plastic. In 2002, the company renamed this version the Volvo XC70.
Five-cylinder engines were installed on the car. The 2.4-litre petrol developed 200 HP, and in 2002 it was replaced with a 2.5-litre 210 HP. The 2.4-liter turbo diesels produced 163 or 183 HP. all versions of the Volvo XC70 had all-wheel drive, and the transmission could be manual or automatic.
The second generation of the Volvo XC70 station wagon was launched in Sweden in 2007. This car was similar in technique and design to the S80 model. As before, the "off-road" version differed from the similar Volvo V70 station wagon with an increased ground clearance and a plastic body kit.
The car was mounted inline six-cylinder petrol engines: three-liter turbo 285-304 HP and 3.2-liter naturally aspirated with a capacity of 238 forces. In-line five-cylinder turbodiesels had a volume of 2.0 and 2.4 liters and developed 163-220 HP.
In 2013, the Volvo XC70 received unified four-cylinder turbo engines 2.0-petrol with 245 HP and diesel with 181 HP.
Depending on the modification, the station wagon was equipped with a manual or automatic (five-speed, six-speed or eight-speed) transmission, and the drive could be either front or full.
In Russia, the Volvo XC70 was officially offered with both petrol and diesel engines. Initially, we sold only four-wheel drive cars, but later dealers appeared and front-wheel drive options. In 2008, prices for the basic diesel station wagon with "mechanics" started at 1.3 million rubles. The model's closest competitors were the Audi A4 allroad and Subaru Outback station wagons.
In 2016, production of the Volvo XC70 model ended, replaced by the Volvo V90 cross Country station wagon.
