Don't use the resolution button on the Asus ROG ally
Here's a short video to talk about the ROG Ally. This is a nifty little gaming handheld that makes for a good alternative to Steam. But it's not the most user friendly console sometimes.
For example, the pop up command centre implies you can press the title to switch between 1080p and 720p but in reality (as noted in Asus' own reviewer's guide) this doesn't actually necessarily switch the resolution of the game you're playing. It changes the resolution of the desktop view in Windows, but doesn't always impact the game. Especially if the game is already running. So if you've noticed that the game you're playing isn't running smoothly then pressing this button won't necessarily solve it. I'd recommend instead changing the games' settings. For recent modern titles you'll want to adjust the settings to play at 720p and probably on medium or high settings and use AMD FSR where possible. This will help improve performance. If you plug the console into the power you'll also get better performance.
Another tips for the Asus ROG Ally is in regard to the paddles (aka Macro Pads) on the back of the handheld. There are some hidden button combinations that are really useful because certain things can be a bit fiddly on this handheld. Windows 11 isn't really that great for a small screened handheld in my humble opinion, but these short cuts make life a lot easier if you've not connected a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard because you can use them to do basic things with the console.

Macro + D-pad up: Show Keyboard
Macro + D-pad down: Task Manager
Macro + D-pad left: Show Desktop
Macro + D-pad right: Task Viewer
Macro + A: Take Screenshot
Macro + B: Show Windows Notification Center
Macro + X: Projection mode
Macro + Y: Begin Recording
