[Genshin Impact] Emperor of Fire and Iron (L93) - Guaranteed Units Only
The Emperor of Fire and Iron lies in wait deep beneath the ocean's currents. Quickly work towards extinguishing its crown to knock the emperor off its throne.
The Emperor's "crown" consists of its two flaming horns, which have a Pyro infusion. While active, they give the Emperor access to Pyro-based attacks and high elemental resistances. Due to the defensive bonuses these horns give the Emperor, you'll want to break down their Pyro infusion swiftly. However, the horns are somewhat resistant to attack, as attacks to the Emperor's body won't affect the horns. You'll have to find methods to directly aim at the horns, or wait for the Emperor to lower its horns during attacks. Any method that can consistently attack the horns regardless of what the Emperor is doing will hasten this battle significantly.
The Emperor is sleeping and buried in the sand when you arrive. It will show its displeasure at your presence by trying to smash you with a claw as it gets up, so be prepared to dash.
Your greatest concern among the Emperor's attacks is when it crouches down and exposes its horns, unleashing up to three blasts of fireballs like an erupting volcano. While many of the fireballs are lobbed in random directions a short distance away from the Emperor, each volley contains a dangerous burst of fireballs aimed directly at you. The Emperor can launch these aimed shots behind itself as well, so you must deal with them. Learn the timing of the Emperor's shots, and dash in time with the aimed bursts. The lobbed fireballs have to land a certain distance away from the Emperor, so dashing right next to the Emperor will mean you only have to contend with the aimed shots. Be mindful of the scorched earth that's temporarily left behind by the fireballs.
If the Emperor launches a fireball into its claw, it plans to send a Pyro wave of explosions forwards towards you. Simply time a horizontal dash away, and stay out of the area for a few seconds until the ground cools off.
If the Emperor crouches with its entire body, it will jump and smash down at your location, indicated by a warning radius. Start moving early so a single dash can get you out of range; counterattacking with an Elemental Burst is also viable if you don't mind using it against the Emperor's heightened defenses. You still have to mind the burning sand the Emperor's impact generates, however.
Should the Emperor be in its infused state for long enough, it will bury all the way down to its horns and begin to charge its Searing Coronation, a massive Pyro explosion that deals severe damage and burns the entire detonation area. If you believe you can break the Emperor's infusion in the next few seconds, doing so will prevent the attack. Otherwise, simply run away - the Coronation's explosion radius is vast, but it won't cover the whole arena, and you have plenty of time to retreat if you figure out that escape is necessary.
After the Emperor's Pyro horns are broken, it will lose its resistance increases and be stunned for several seconds. It will recover, but without its Pyro infusion, it can only perform singular claw strikes at you. These can all be reacted to with a single dash. Just mind that the Emperor attacks fairly often during this time, so try to avoid getting stuck in an animation as you carry out your assault.
The importance of breaking through the Emperor's Pyro infusion has resulted in an unorthodox approach for my party. Barbara has a rare offensive use here, as her Charged Attack can always damage the horns at all times. The Hydro Traveler's Elemental Skill does the same with its ending shot, though it has to be properly aimed at the horns. Xiangling manages to find offensive use against a Pyro-oriented boss by setting up the rest of the party for strong Vaporize and Melt reactions. Kaeya fills out the strategy with solid damage and decent ability to damage the horns while the Emperor has them lowered. I generally try to preserve my Bursts until the Emperor's infusion is broken to get the most damage out of my moves.
