This is a walk-through/tutorial of what I did to create an environment/reflection map for some test shots for the Star Wars CGI short I'm working on. As I was working on the shots, I wasn't happy with the lighting and reflections the default environment map was producing, or that of any of the other maps that came with Element 3D. I wanted to see what I could do with After Effect’s VR tools since they create equirectangular images.
And by the way, I’m not saying this is the ONLY way to do it, it’s what I did in this instance to produce results I was happy with.
