Russia's new threats (and offers) to END the war in Ukraine.
In recent weeks, Russia has been stepping up its rhetoric against the West and imposing new threats towards the US and NATO countries. It was specifically Vladimir Putin threatening countries that supported Ukraine with weapons and implying that Russia might use nuclear weapons if the sovereignty of Russia is questioned. Russia also conducted military exercises using nuclear weapons in both May and June - an element of its hybrid war and war with the West. All this was reflected in Putin's speeches at various events.
At the same time, Russia has new offers for the West, after the war in Ukraine is resolved - joining its new world order built with China: the Eurasian security system. And this offer is very similar to what Russia Finland relations looked like during the Cold War: don’t challenge a more powerful neighbour in foreign politics… and maintain your national sovereignty. It would be called the Finlandisation of Europe. And is indeed an interesting offer...
