This Hand Clap Rap, a call and response song, is a great way to warm up students at the beginning of a lesson or as an interactive brain-break, and it helps with memorising and reviewing language.
And when a rhythmic chant is mixed with clapping, it definitely helps keep students focused!
Here's Miranda's Hand Clap Rap:
Clap your hands, one, two, three,
Clap your hands along with me.
Clap them high and clap them low
Clap them fast and clap them slow.
Clap then left and clap them right
Now clap your hands out of sight
You can sing it as a circle time song or split students into pairs.
Keep the full version or cut it short depending on the age/level of your kiddos.
Start slow with speed; use the song as call and response. You sing the first line, and students repeat each line. and as they get to know it better, start speeding it up.
Oh, and don’t forget hats and specs for everyone! It might seem silly, but little ones love that part!
