Hey guys, John here with RealTruck.com. Today I'm going to show you how to install the Putco LockerTruck Bed Rails.
All right, as you can see here, we've got everything out of the box and laid out. It comes with everything you need to get this onto the truck. It has your rails, your end caps, your washers, bolts, all your adapters for putting it into the bed rail slots, and your plastic slides that go over these to attach your rails onto. So next thing is lets get this on the truck.
All right, guys. The first step to getting our bed rails onto this truck is to cut out this slot. If you're lucky enough to have a truck that has these caps on it that the holes are already out or they have pop-out caps, hey, that's a party bonus. Ours doesn't have that so what we have to do is you can see here the outline and take our trusty old friend, the dremel, and we're going to cut this out of here so we can install our railings in here. So lets get that out of there.
OK, guys. You can see we've got that cut out so we can get our bed rail end pieces on here. So what we're going to do now is we're going to go over and do the other side.
We're going to have to go ahead and cut the back one out also. So I'll get that cut out and we'll get this rail attached to this truck.
All right, gang. We've got our slots cut out for our end caps so the next thing we're going to do is put the end caps together and they go together just like this: what you have is your bolt and one of these plastic washers. You put the bolt through your end cap, put your washer on there, then your expanding block, which these go on a little bit tough so you're going to have to push them through there, and then your flat nut. What I do is I just go ahead and screw it down to where it just hits the expanding rubber block and there you go. That's how you put it together. So I'll go ahead and put the other three together and then we'll put these on the truck.
OK, guys. We've got all four of these end pieces ready to go. The next thing we're going to do is we're going to put these on the end pieces. Now when you put these on, make sure you can see that they have a little lip on them. Make sure that the little lip goes toward this end and not the other end. Now we'll go attach these to the truck and get ready to put our rails on.
Now one of the things that we're going to do is we're going to snug this down but we don't want to tighten it down. So we just want to leave it somewhat loose so that we can move it around so that we can get the other end attached and the rails attached to it. OK. So that's tight enough just so it doesn't fall out. I'll put the one on the other side and then I'll show you how to start attaching the rails to this thing.
All right, guys. We've got our caps attached so we'll start installing our rails and it's just a simple matter of just slide the rail on and then we'll just let it hang there like that until we put the back one on. And I'll go put that one on the other side and get it ready to go.
All right. We've got that cut out so we should be able to go ahead and put our rail in here now, just like so. And now we can go ahead and tighten everything up on this side of the truck. As always, keep in mind these things are pretty tough but don't wrench real hard on them because just like anything, you can break it.
All right, guys. There you have it. That's how easy it is to install these rails onto your truck. So remember, until next time, happy motoring. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!
