These step-by-step instructions and video detail how to replace the oil filter in a 2006 Honda Accord LX and will be similar for most Accord models from 2003 to 2007 equipped with a 2.4L engine, but be sure to consult your owner’s manual for maintenance specifics. ** Regularly changing the oil and replacing the oil filter helps ensure you have clean, filtered oil to lubricate and cool vehicle’s engine components. Dirty oil, low oil levels, and a clogged oil filter can all contribute to engine damage or wear. Your 2003-2007 Honda Accord’s owner's manual includes service interval information, but if you notice lessened engine performance, engine noise, oil discoloration, or oil degradation, more frequent oil changes may be required to prevent further engine damage. Maintain a healthy, well-running engine with regular oil changes and our step-by-step instructions tailored for your 2003-2007 Honda Accord.

Your Honda Accord’s oil filter traps contaminants in motor oil before it’s circulated throughout your car’s engine. Performing routine oil changes on your 2003-2007 Honda Accord, as well as replacing the oil filter, is a routine car maintenance task that can extend your vehicle’s engine life and improve overall performance. Contaminated, dirty oil or a clogged oil filter may cause metallic, ticking or metallic sounds coming from the engine, decreased engine performance, or if not addressed, severe engine damage or seizing. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend oil change intervals of between 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but your Accord’s owner's manual will provide the manufacturer’s recommended interval. Our instructions and step-by-step video can help you perform an oil and oil filter change on your 2003-2007 Honda Accord to maintain routine car maintenance and keep your vehicle running its best.

Find the oil fill cap… and remove it.
Locate the oil pan… and place your drain pan under the oil drain plug.
Use a ratchet and 17mm socket to loosen the drain plug.
Remove the drain plug the rest of the way by hand… and let the oil drain.
Once the oil slows to a drip, use your filter wrench to loosen the oil filter, which is directly above the drain port on the oil pan.
