Now this lecture is particularly useful, particularly if you're creating time sheets in Excel.
We will look at the differences between:
ROUND
MROUND
FLOOR
CEILING
The chances are, with time sheets at least, that you will not be paid by the minute (unless you're a solicitor).
Instead, you will have an increment...either a 15 minute block, or 30 minute block, or if you're really unlucky, hourly blocks. And that's where the MROUND function helps, as it rounds to the NEAREST increment...but, you probably won't get paid a full half an hour if you only worked 16 minutes!
For that, we need another function...FLOOR.
FLOOR rounds DOWN to your nearest increment, which is the way things will work in the real world! At least when you are working and being paid, but maybe not when you're having lunch. Then, a 16 minute lunch would probably be considered as half an hour.
For that, we need FLOOR's opposite number, CEILING.
