This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Top-5 compact SUVs, or crossovers sold with gas engines. The Mazda CX-5 has two powertrain options both standard AWD. The base engine is a 2.5L 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Mazda CX-5 is also sold with a turbocharged variant of this engine with 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel. If you use regular fuel, you’ll get 227 horsepower & 310 lb-ft of torque. The Toyota RAV4 has a 2.5L 4-cylinder paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD for 2023, FWD and AWD options are available in the US. The Honda CR-V has a1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder matched to a CVT, 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. FWD and AWD options are available. The Subaru Forester is sold with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with a CVT, 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD. The Sportage is sold with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it has 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.
