Why we No Longer Create Amazing Programmers

Most of the software organizations have complained that they find it hard to get good software developers. This, considering the millions of software developers out there with almost half a million (or even more) is added every year.
This leads to the question on why we no longer create amazing and great programmers what we used to have earlier. if you consider the last century, even though the number of software developers were much less, the amount of things they used to create were execcedingly high. As of today, most software developers are just limiting themselves to maintaining than creating,
Today, the opportunities to learn software and make an impact is too high, the resources are in abundance, but the biggest reason why we're not creating amazing software developers is because of the fact that they are being forced to be fast and look into the easy stuffs.
