The Roland SP-404 MKII is an ambient secret weapon. I recently placed it at the end of my synth chain to constantly record the sound and music I create: in this way I can completely avoid the DAW and put together performative banks for immediate use or later editing in Ableton.
It took a while for me to understand the SP404 MKII workflow, but now I am hooked.
