Stefania violin cover (lesson)
Stefania, by the Kalush Orchestra, was the Eurovision winner for Ukraine in 2022. In this violin cover lesson I show each section, with suggestions for style and ornamentation suitable for the fiddle. Most challenging is the rap section, for which I combine some fiddle chopping with the Ukrainian traditional tune Arkan. The main instrumental section, which on the original is played on a Hutsul Flute or Sopilka, works well on the violin, especially when using false harmonics to give the line a more flute-like quality. The verse can be played on lower or upper octaves, and enhanced with drones and the vibrato trill.
