How I first learned to target chord changes from the "Tenor Madness" melody
This is how I FIRST learned how to target chord tones while improvising over jazz progressions. I was working on the melody of the tune "Tenor Madness" by Sonny Rollins. The melody targets the changing notes in the jazz blues chord progression. Once I realized that, then I started improvising with the notes in the melody and making it my own.
