The downgrading process is pretty straightforward if you’ve upgraded to Windows 11 in the past 10 days. Let’s walk through the process.
Attention, it’s highly recommended to back up all important files before the downgrade.
1. Click “Start” and choose “Settings”.
2. In the “Settings” window, click “Recovery”.
3. You will see "Previous version of Windows" under "Recovery options". Click "Go back" to continue.
4. Choose why you downgrade Windows 11 and click next.
5. Wait for the process to complete. Once the downgrade is finished, log in to your previous Windows account, reinstall your apps and recover your files.
If you never had an older version on your computer before Windows 11 installation or it has been more than 10 days, you won’t able to downgrade to a previous version in Windows Settings. You can only roll back to an old operating system by performing a clean install. Notice that this way will cause data loss on your computer.
Stage 1. Make a Windows 10 Bootable Media
If you already have one, you can skip to stage 2.
1. Insert a USB drive into your computer. Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and run it.
2. Choose “Create installation media” and follow the wizard to finish this stage.
Stage 2. Boot the Computer from the Bootable Media
1. Insert the Windows 10 bootable media into your computer. Enter BIOS Setup utility.
2. Set the installation media as the first boot device. Then, the computer will boot from it.
Stage 3. Clean Install Windows 10
1. Wait for Windows 10 to install. Once it’s completed, your PC will reboot again.
2. Enter BIOS to choose the computer hard drive as the first boot device.
Then, you can use Windows 10 on your computer.
