Derek Jeter's First Postseason Home Run | New York Yankees
Pinstripes of the Past: In 1996, the New York Yankees were the American League Eastern Division Champions. In that year's ALCS against the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees were trailing late in Game 1 when Derek Jeter stepped up to the plate. Jeter sends one to right field, where a fan, Jeffrey Maier, reaches across the wall and deflects the ball into the stands. This ends up being a game-tying home run. It was the first post-season home run of Jeter's career, and the Yankees went on to win that year's World Series.
