KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS by Tom Parkinson- Morgan
Today's sidetrack into nerdy literature is a bit more modern and ongoing.
It's also in the upper echelon of my favorite comics currently published. I'm talking about none other than Kill Six Billion Demons.
I don't like spoiling stories, like, at all. It's about a girl who's boyfriend ends up getting kidnapped by demons, and she decides to try and do something about it. Lots of stuff happens after that. There's all sorts of tonal shifts as the story progresses, intricate world building, and crazy detailed artwork. The larger sized volumes help with this immensely. It doesn't help that Image has published each volume so far in a different size though!
I absolutely adore the artwork and the crazy pastiche that the main setting of Throne is. This is the type of book that I reread every few months (as I wait for the next volume) and spot stuff I didn't see upon the previous read.
If you're remotely interested, do take a look at the web comic, as it's free, and each page usually has some sort of lore or history of the world. It starts crazy, gets crazier, and shows no signs of stopping that train either.
My hope is that sales continue decently enough to warrant a nice oversized hardcover when the series is wrapped up. Or at least more Euro- sized editions.
If you really like it, there's also the Patreon that helps fund the comic (and at higher levels has access to the K6BD RPG if you're into that sort of thing).
Tangentially, Tom Parksion- Morgan also ran a kickstarter for a "mud and lasers" mecha pilot RPG called Lancer. Just like K6BD, it has all sorts of crazy gorgeous art and ridiculously fluffy background lore. The full art PDF is already available but the physical editions should be here hopefully by the fall (and it'll be on this channel for sure). There's also a freebie PDF sans the bulk of the art if you want to check it out.
Oh how I hope we see figures based on his crazy designs some day!
