You Must Enable System Protection - How to Fix Guide
As I was messing around with NTLite to make my Windows 10 operating system lighter and faster, I accidentally corrupted the install and now I just got Critical Process Died blue screen every time I tried to enter Windows. As I saved many restore points to get around this possible situation, I headed to System Restore in the advanced options part of boot repair.
For some reason I got an error that I must enable System Protection on the C: drive, although I had already restored that same drive to an older state like 3 times before this. To get around this you must go back and enable Command Prompt (CMD) and type in the following lines:
net start vss
rstrui.exe /offline:C:\windows=active
Replace "C:\" with another drive letter in case C: is not the drive letter of your Windows operating system drive.
After these steps it should be able to restore like normally. If you still get errors it is likely your whole operating system restore point is corrupted which might need reinstall.
