WORDPRESS 2021 - GET TAXONOMY DATA (PARENT & CHILDREN) TO A JSON FILE & CUSTOM REST ENDPOINT PART 1
This is the first part of a four-part mini-series based on turning WordPress Taxonomy or Category Data into JSON (JavaScript Object Notation).
In this series, I show how to get WordPress Custom Taxonomy or Category Data, turn that into a Custom Data Array (by carefully choosing the Data Items for Taxonomy or Category Data Objects). Once that's done, I turn that Custom Data Array (with Parent / Child hierarchy) into JSON Data and write that into a JSON file in the WordPress upload folder. Later, I take the same Custom Taxonomy Data Array and convert that into a Custom WP REST API Endpoint.
In a future video series, I'll show how to use that JSON data with JavaScript (ES6 / ES7 / ES8) in an OOP style. This could be very important while you're using WordPress as an Application Development platform. You may need to build a frontend form where a user may need to choose Taxonomy data with Parent-Child hierarchy from a JavaScript-based select dropdown.
