Hike Two Trees to Box Springs Mountain, Moreno M, and Rocky Peak!
So much changes after the recent rains. We start our hike along the Two Trees Trail, which is challenging but totally doable, so you can try it too. Along the way we see how a normally brown mountainside is lush with plants, lizards, and birds.A little over a mile we reach the park (Box Springs Mountain Preserve) and take the easier fire road. Here I share some of my notes on my magical electrolyte elixir that will grant you +25 health! We finally reach the second and third radio towers and revel in the awesome panoramas we earned. We drop alongside the Moreno Valley M and appreciate how big it really is. From here we make our way back but try the spring route and discover an awesome little shortcut. Once we return to the park, I decide on a change of plans, and I will leave that for you to discover with me.
One of the most amazing parts of going on these little hikes is how many alternate paths are available. This area has dozens of smaller trails so you can do many variations on this hike. You can start from the bottom (like me) or from the top at the park. You can take the route to the towers from the park, or even take one from the eastern side. You can also discover some of the dozens of meandering paths along the preserve, and even catch a few donkeys along the way, just don’t feed them (they eat very well already!).
