I Am Legend (2007) stars Will Smith as Dr. Robert Neville, a brilliant scientist and the last human survivor in New York City after a man-made virus wipes out most of humanity. By day, he searches for a cure while evading the infected mutants known as Darkseekers. The film ends with Neville sacrificing himself to save a woman and a child, ensuring they escape with a potential cure to a survivor's colony. In an alternate ending, Neville survives and leaves with the survivors.
