Friendly PSA:
I'm getting back to the thing that I love to do most so definitely stay tuned for more awesome vintage stuff and restorations, but I did want to talk about this. I personally believe this kind of conversation is important and there should be made space for it. I started out two years ago because I happened to have won a vintage wedding dress that caught on fire right before it made it to me and I started posting my process of fixing it so I could learn from other people. I didn't step into this trying to create a business model or to own my own shop. Each step of the way I have grown and stories like these have helped me learn. I'm hopeful they do the same for others too.
Thank you for those of you who support me and showed up in droves to make sure I knew I was loved, appreciated and not alone.
For those of you who think I allowed this to take over my page or it was too much drama, this is my life. This issue took over my every day for a week straight and I promise I wanted nothing more than to just drop it and move on. Due to the ramifications of the charge back, it took days to gather all of the evidence and get it properly submitted. It took days of communicating back and forth with the buyer and trying to coordinate getting my dress back. I only provided updates as they were being requested by thousands of people and if you think I drew that out, you really have no idea how much time one customer can take from a small business because of something like this. I'm still not done with it but I feel I shared what was most important and I feel supported and motivated enough to be able to pick right back up and keep going. It was never something I just let consume me or that I held on to for no reason. I could not just "move on" or "let it go" due to the ramifications of what I was dealing with. In a perfect world when we have a crappy customer (which I've had the rare few and never discussed) we're able to just let it slide like water off a duck's back, but in instances like this it can be all consuming until it is resolved.
