Inkscape Map Art Tutorial: How to Make Custom Stylized Maps with Free OpenStreetMap Data
Inkscape step-by-step advanced beginner-intermediate tutorial on how to create custom minimalist map art as seen on Etsy. Thanks to a request in the comments of a previous Inkscape map tutorial, in this video the chosen location is BOSTON, Massachusetts. Follow along in this Inkscape screen capture showing how to:
1. Use OpenStreetMap to download your map data as an editable SVG file.
2. Create specific dimensions to your map and poster/ wall art border.
3. Resize the OpenStreetMap data inside of Inkscape.
4. Clean up the map using Edit -- Select Same tool in Inkscape
5. How to make the streets all the same thickness.
5. Change your map to a high contrast two-tone image.
6. Add custom selected pops of color.
7. Crop and clip map area into the desired dimensions of final product.
