This is the boss fight found after Fontaine's fifth Archon Quest.

Spoilers are ahead.

===========

Giant space narwhal!. Your swords will have to make do in place of harpoons - judge the Narwhal's attacks carefully to find the most efficient time to strike. Just be on your guard when you get swallowed, as the guardian shadow can rip you apart quickly if you aren't careful. Have Pneuma or Ousia attacks ready to aid you in both endeavors.

The Narwhal starts the fight with an enrage gauge. It slowly grows over time, but also increases should you damage the Narwhal or break the Eye of the Maelstrom it summons. The Eye of the Maelstrom can be broken by standard attacks, or broken instantly by Pneuma or Ousia. Only after filling the Narwhal's rage meter will it be able to swallow you and shift to the shadow phase of the fight.

If the Narwhal approaches the ground on its side, it plans to slam down in a wide area, cracking the ground to its sides and making the cracked areas explode. Get out of the way, and be ready to dash aside to avoid the cracked regions. The Narwhal leaves almost no time to attack it here.

If the fight goes on, the side smash may show a variant where the Narwhal continues swimming and unleashes cracks multiple times. This leaves the Narwhal fairly vulnerable; you must mind that the cracks still hit the area near the Narwhal, however.

If the Narwhal dives straight into the water, it will create a large impact, causing geysers to shoot up around it. Simply go after the Narwhal after it hits the water - the geysers never spawn near the Narwhal.

Should the water below you crack, the Narwhal is going to effectively perform a reversed version of the diving geyser attack I just mentioned, and can be dealt with the same way. Both the dive and surfacing attacks can be more heavily punished if you ignore the initial impact via an Elemental Burst.

Should the Narwhal swim more slowly sideways, or dive and idle vertically, it plans to summon a storm of falling meteors that will impact various locations, a number of which target your location. This is your best chance to attack the Narwhal with everything you have; be ready to break off as the meteors intensify. You can generally walk away from the meteor rain once you dash out of any initial danger you were in.

The Narwhal itself doesn't pose many threats to you due to its sluggish nature. The Foul Legacy shadow guarding the inside of the Narwhal, however, is an entirely different story, and you should consider any attacks you make carefully.

The shadow will only move by teleporting, though it doesn't have to if its attack can reach you without the shadow moving. The shadow's primary form of attack is an attack chain with four possible moves, each move separated by a teleport. Each attack can only be performed in a combo once - use this information to predict the shadow's upcoming moves. Lightning strikes may accompany the final attack in a combo, so stay on your toes.

The shadow may use its blade to spin around, creating an electric arc. This arc will explode a few moments after forming. Evade this by either dodging away from the shadow, or running past it. Lingering near the shadow will likely get you hit by the explosion. Note that there are two variations of this spin attack (differing in the way the shadow spins), and are considered different attacks by the combo's restriction on unique moves.

The shadow may bring its blade behind itself and slam it straight forward, hitting an AOE ahead of itself. It will detonate this area with electricity soon after. Dodge to the side swiftly, and stay out of the electric zone. Be very wary of this move, as the shadow starts it almost instantly if using it mid-combo.

If the shadow spins its blade in one hand, it will send it off as a spinning projectile at you. Wait for the shadow to throw the disc, then dash to the right (you'll be opposite the hand the disc is thrown from). This move forces the shadow to end its combo. The shadow has to retrieve its blade after using the move, creating a brief window of attack.

The shadow will occasionally form a vortex. Hitting it with Pneuma or Ousia cancels the shadow's attack and takes out a quarter of the shadow's durability. Failing to do so will summon monsters to attack you. Two Geovishaps can use jump attacks (run out of the target zone), four Rishboland Tigers can spin into you (dash to the side of the Tigers), or four Hat Jellyfish will fire water orbs at you (bait the shots toward the center, then run to one of the sides between jellyfish).

Defeating the shadow will instantly give your party full Elemental Energy - consider being aggressive with bursts if the shadow is nearly broken. The Narwhal will be stunned for a long time after this, so any long-lasting attacking Bursts will be able to be used to their fullest.
